The latest, best radio story ever
Thursday, September 24th, 2009 | Uncategorized | No Comments
At the PRPD in Cleveland last week I met Charles Maynes, an audio artist based in Moscow and a recent winner of a 2009 Third Coast Festival/Richard H. Driehaus Award. And if this isn’t a sign of the times, I don’t know what is: an American guy, producing for a Russian podcast, creates a beautiful and amazing story about the British singer-songwriter Nick Drake. I’m trying to convince Charles to release the doc here in the states, but in the meantime, you can stream the documentary on Podстанция. Don’t let all the Russian text scare you (the doc is in English), just press play and listen to one of the best radio pieces I’ve heard in recent memory.
The Memory Palace

The Memory Palace is a series of short, surprising history stories from veteran producer, Nate DiMeo. I love almost everything about this series. Each episode is a short, well written, funny and compellingly told story about the past. If history was always told like this, there’d be whole lot more unemployed history majors out there begging for change.
