This is great. I recently moved to Spokane and have found the usual NPR programming a little tame and talk show heavy. I’m so excited to hear what you guys have to offer. I’ve been listening for a half hour and have already heard a Bob Dylan song I’ve never heard and learned something new about Ben Franklin. THANK YOU!

How great to hear the enthusiastic words about radio storytelling as REMIX radio comes to Earth. I listen and love it almost all the time now. I would, even if I were not the Manager of KPBZ. We are proud to have Remix. It’s pretty darn good!

I’ve been waiting with bated (?) breath for this new station. With a dearth of info coming from SPR, I’ve had to guess what this 3rd stream could be. Let’s see, they’ve got music, news and talk, that leaves sports and weather, right? Being NPR, the sports would be Mah Jong and Squash, and the weather a continuous listing of temperatures from around the world. No, I was wrong… Whew. We’re lucky! Talk radio keeps my mind going while I work in the pottery. Viva la alternative!

Thank you, thank you, thank you- Keep it coming Roman! I tuned in on accident and haven’t changed the dial since finding it. Give Spokane, and all of us, something to grow towards!

Really like the format!
Now I have THREE SPR stations I can listen to as I drive from Hayden to Spokane every day: intelligent, in-depth, far-ranging topics with lots of science and lots of fiction and non-fiction story-telling = VERY cool!

What is the name of the program/show I caught just the end of the other day . . . title was smart apes or smart chimps or ?? and it said it would be a monthly installment?

Listen to 90.3 FM 1-2 hours per day. I’ve actually stopped listening to classic NPR. Have enjoyed the vast majority of stories. Some of the transition songs and stories get so repetitive that it’s tough to wait for the next newer story. Love the TED stories, the conversations made into songs (It’s um like), the repetitive words edited into a string (like “God”, “Meditation”). I’m less impressed with the talk show style bits.

I hope you continue to increase the number of stories. I’m totally hooked.

Thanks for the kind words, Dan. I’m working on the repetition factor. Part of it is technical, because of the algorithm that fills parts of the clock, and part of it is volume and keeping up with a 24/hr station that people listen to for several hours a day. I’ve put together some playlist with fewer interstitial bits to see if they work, but I’m also just trying to add more and more every day. I really appreciate your support and hope you continue to stick with us.

Yep, you can stream us right here with that little orange flash player in the upper right and in the radio section of iTunes, although it’s not the exact same thing that’s playing on broadcast (90.3) at that moment- it’s actually a couple days ahead online, so it’ll be like you’re listening to the future.

I and my 12-y.o. grandson love remix with a passion. I want it on my ipod touch, but the only remix I can get (steaming)keeps stopping (says “no audio available”), even tho I’m 10 ft. away from my wireless. Is there anyway I can get KPBZ streaming on my ipod?

I stumbled upon KPBZ a few months back while channel surfing here in Spokane. I can’t tell you how much I love it! I only wish I had come across it earlier. (It’s too bad the other Spokane public radio channels don’t cross promote KPBZ.)

In the most honest way the stories and articles broadcasted on the remix radio format have the unique ability to fit into our fast paced world and slow us all down just long enough to inspire and imagine the possibilities all around us. Roman & PRX crew: I listen to PRX more hours of my waking day than not. Even if I’m not “listening”, it’s still there. Thanks for making the greatest thing on radio since Roosevelt’s Fireside Chats. Which I understand were pretty good in the day.

I recommend 90.3 to everyone at work (I’m a DJ of the “Nightfall” show on KEWU 89.5 in Spokane, WA). I hope to one day have my own gig on PRX, where I can explore my field recording passions and bring the public an amazing experience every time.

I love it. I stumbled upon it by chance and have listened to it ever since. Even looked it up on the net to get a live stream at work. BRAVO!

90.3 Remix radio started so well I was very pleased. It had stories from ordinary people; unscripted, unedited, natural.

Now it seems NPR style programming is showing up more and more. Just what we DON’T want to hear – more slick radio pro’s showing off their skills. NPR, like PBS, is obsessed with emulating commercial broadcasting.

What a shame…

Radio Remix is my very favorite radio station while in my car. I love the variety, humor, drama – just a great mix of media. Thanks to all who mmake it happen
