We Love the Hackney Podcast, Too!

REMIX junkies won’t be surprised that Francesca Panetta’s Hackney Podcast (a REMIX favorite) has been garnering praise all over the Northern hemisphere.

First, the Hackney Podcast’s episode Night, which won gold at the New York Festivals last year, has been nominated for a 2011 Sony Award.  The big winner will be announced on May 9th.  Head over to the states and you’ll find [Un]Observed, a new radio magazine out of San Francisco, is currently featuring The Hackney Podcast’s episode Night.

Scoot back over to London, where the show will be at the East London Film Festival on May 1st, but don’t stay too long because Night will be featured at the International Features Conference in the Netherlands at the of the month.

We say Hooray for Hackney! But that’s not all. We hope you’ll send some hooray to Hackney. See, The Hackney Podcast is raising funds for Hackney Hear, a “smartphone app that triggers off interviews, features, music, poetry and archive by GPS so wherever you walk in Hackney you hear audio specific to that place.” Pretty cool, no?
